Shale oil-producing process

Shale oil is recovered by forming tunnels by mining oil shale from a subterranean oil shale formation, exploding the previously formed tunnels in order to create a permeable zone including the rubble from the exploded tunnels, and circulating hot fluid within the permeable zone, thereby recovering shale oil from both the mined oil shale and the permeable zone. The permeable zones might be formed by nuclear blasting. (5 claims)
