Heavy crude hangs by a thread: righting the vessel

Journal Article · · Energy Detente; (United States)
OSTI ID:5561143
Proponents of rapid incorporation of heavy and extra-heavy crudes into the world refining diet have only to wait. That is because there is so much more non-conventional crude than light, sweet oil. But proponents will have to wait a lot longer than they thought just last year, before pricing crude according to product markets revealed the strength of the buyer position. This issue follows heavy-weight futurists into their market niches and finds how they are biding their time. This issue also contains statistical data on the following: (1) ED US posted asphalt price, May 1986; (2) US imports by country of origin, Jan.-Apr. 1986; (3) ED refining netback data for US Gulf and West Coasts, Rotterdam, and Singapore as of June 20, 1986; (4) ED fuel price/tax series edition; and (5) ED Western Hemisphere principal industrial fuel prices as of March 1986.
