Estimating bremsstrahlung yield

Bremsstrahlung is generally a concern only when dealing with pure beta minus ({beta}{sup {minus}}) particle emitters, when photon radiation is not expected. This article provides a method for calculating bremsstrahlung yield as a function of the activity present, the energy of the beta particles, and the atomic number ({zeta}) of the shield. Several example calculations are provided and the limitations of the method are described.
