Veba and RWE recycle plastics waste to crude

Veba Oel (Gelsenkirchen, Germany) and Ruhrkohle will recycle 40,000 m.t.-50,000 m.t. of mixed plastics waste back to synthetic crude next year as part of a technology demonstration program. The companies hope the project, to be carried out in an existing plant, will show that the process works on an industrial scale and is economically viable. A test earlier this year on 60 m.t. of mixed plastics waste was successful. Crude generated from the waste was fed into Veba Oel's refinery at Gelsenkirchen.
