A dynamical model for deep inelastic collisions of heavy ions is developed on the basis of linear response theory. The model takes into account both the dissipation of the kinetic energy of the colliding nuclei and fluctuations of the ion motion relative to the classical trajectories. The effect of the deformation of the fragments in the exit channel of the reaction is included. The analysis reveals the general trends in the angular distribution of deep inelastic reaction products as a function of the energy of the bombarding ion and the combination of mass (charge) numbers of the colliding nuclei. The dynamical model developed here is generalized to the case of charge (mass) diffusion. The transport coefficients obtained in a microscopic approach are used to calculate the yields of different elements. The results are compared to the experimental data and the discrepancies are discussed.
