Vehicle
In an armored vehicle having a body of monocoque construction and an engine positioned in the body, a cooling system is described which consists of: a plenum chamber disposed in the body between a sidewall of the body and the engine, the engine being disposed outside of the plenum chamber, a plenum exhaust means associated with the plenum chamber for exhausting gases from a forward portion of the plenum chamber to the exterior of the body, a fan mounted in a rear portion of the plenum chamber, a radiator disposed in the interior of the body substantially in a rear corner thereof and operatively connected to the engine, a securing means for securing the radiator and the fan in the body immediately adjacent to each other and in parallel vertical planes disposed generally parallel to the center longitudinal axis of the body, the body including an air inlet opening disposed generally above the engine, a driving means operatively connected to the fan for driving the fan, and the fan being positioned, so that it draws air through the air inlet, then rearwardly through the interior of the body, rearwardly over the engine, laterally through the radiator and generally forward through the plenum chamber and out through the plenum exhaust means, an operator's station positioned in a forward location in the body forward of the engine, and the driving means driving the fan so that it draws air rearward away from the operator's station.
