Toxic emissions and air quality in the Lake Huron-Lake Erie corridor
Report of a preliminary analysis of atmospheric emissions, air quality and soil and vegetation contamination in the Ontario-Michigan border area in southwestern Ontario, extending from the southern end of Lake Huron, along the St. Clair River, through Lake St. Clair, and along the Detroit River to Lake Erie. The analysis evaluates the conditions on the Ontario side of this Corridor, comparing it with that in other areas in Ontario and eastern North America. Some meteorological analyses are applied to diurnal patterns of reduced sulphur concentrations to identify probable sources of these compounds. Ambient air concentration data are examined for such contaminants as SO{sub 2}, TSP and trace metals. These are then compared to those among major Ontario cities, including Windsor and Metropolitan Toronto.
