Followup audit, Department of Energy's Superconducting Super Collider Program

This is the audit report on the Department's Superconducting Super Collider (SSC) Program. It is a followup to our initial review of the Program (DOE/IG -- 0291, November 16, 1990). The objective of the following audit was to evaluate progress made in correcting the previously reported weaknesses and to assess the adequacy of the current command and control structure used by the Department in managing the SSC project. We found that actions have been taken or are in process on most of the issues addressed in the prior report. However, additional improvements are needed to better assure accomplishment of SSC technical, cost and schedule performance goals and objectives.
