We present measurements of the [tau] polarization in e[sup +]e[sup [minus]][r arrow][tau][sup +][tau][sup [minus]] from the four LEP experiments. From these measurements, the ratios of the vector and axial vector coupling constants of the electron and the tau lepton to the weak neutral current are obtained to be [ital g][sub [ital Ve]]/[ital g][sub [ital Ae]]=0.666[plus minus]0.015 and [ital g][sub [ital V][tau]]/[ital g][sub [ital A][tau]]=0.070[plus minus]0.009 respectively, constituting a sensitive test of e-[tau] universality in weak neutral current interactions. In the Standard Model, this leads to a value of the weak mixing angle at [ital Q][sup 2] = [ital m][sub Z][sup 2] of sin[sup 2][theta][sub eff]=0.2326[plus minus]0.0020.
