Rotational structure and Nilsson orbitals for highly deformed odd-A nuclei in the Aapprox. 100 region

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Lett.; (United States)
Six rotational bands have been found in /sub 39//sup 99/Y/sub 60/, 1 /sub 39//sup 01/Y/sub 62/, /sub 38//sup 99/Sr/sub 61/, and 1 /sub 40//sup 01/Zr/sub 61/. All bands have small and very similar values of h/sup 2//2 scrI that indicate deformations of approx.0.3--0.4 and imply that these nuclei are among the most deformed known, with scrIapprox.0.8 scrI/sub rigid/. Relative strengths of intraband ..gamma.. transitions suggest Nilsson orbital assignments of ..pi.. 5/2 (422) for the Y ground bands.
