Using PRA (probabilistic risk assessment) to define areas of possible exemption from regulatory requirements
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:5535939
This document summarizes work being conducted by Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) for the Risk-Based Licensing Program sponsored by the Department of Energy (DOE). The objective of this work is to define and demonstrate an approach for identifying potential areas for exemption from current regulatory requirements to assist in the improvement of the regulatory process for future design reactors. A methodology using probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) and a demonstration of the methodology using an existing PRA are presented in this report.
