Corrosion and anodic behavior of titanium carbide, nitride, and boride in solutions of sulfuric and phosphoric acids

Journal Article · · Prot. Met. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5535000
A comparative study is made of the corrosion and anodic behavior of titanium and sinters titanium diboride, nitride, and carbide in solutions of sulfuric and phosphoric acids at 25-90 degrees C in concentrations of 1-10N. Titanium carbide and nitride are exceedingly stable in comparison with titanium under all the investigated conditions. The authors suggest an explanation of the characteristic parts of the anodic polarization curves for titanium diboride, nitride, and carbide.
