This progress report discusses aspects of geochemical constraints on ocean general circulation models. During the past year we have concentrated on four research topics: (1) the study of dynamic constraints on the extent of CO{sub 2} uptake by an iron fertilized Antarctic Ocean; (2) the mixing dynamics of Antarctic Ocean; (3) interhemispheric transport of CO{sub 2} through the ocean; and, (4) the role of marine biology in fossil fuel CO{sub 2} uptake by sea.
