Photoreactions of the triruthenium cluster Ru/sub 3/(CO)/sub 12/ and substituted analogues

Reported is a comprehensive investigation of the medium, ligand, and wavelength effects on the quantum yields and flash photolysis kinetics for the photosubstitution reactions of the trinuclear ruthenium cluster Ru/sub 3/(CO)/sub 12/. Also described are some related studies of the substituted clusters Ru/sub 3/(CO)/sub 12-n/L/sub n/(L = P(OCH/sub 3/)/sub 3/, PPh/sub 3/, P(p-totyl)/sub 3/, or P(O(0-totyl)/sub 3/). These results are interpreted in terms of a model for Ru/sub 3/(CO)/sub 12/ photochemistry.
