A deep survey at 20 cm of an area of 50 arcmin x 50 arcmin in the galactic plane has been carried out.A total of 110 radio sources were detected above a minimum map flux density of 150 micro-Jy. Comparison of the source count in the field to those at high latitude indicates that the discrete source population in the plane at flux densities greater than a few tenths of a mJy is primarily extragalactic. Twenty-two of the field sources have optical counterparts to within position errors on either the O or E Palomar Sky Survey plates. Ten of these, having B less than 18 mag, cannot be satisfactorily accounted for as either extragalactic objects or change coincidences. A good fraction are thus likely to be stellar sources. 20 references.
