Five different phases have been observed in the Bi-Pb-Sr-Ca-Cu-O superconducting compound with T/sub c/ of 108K. The high-T/sub c/ and low-T/sub c/ superconducting phases with their compositions near (Bi/sub 0.82/Pb/sub 0.18/)/sub 4/Sr/sub 4/Ca/sub 3/Cu/sub 6/O/sub y/ and (Bi/sub 0.82/Pb/sub 0.18/)/sub 4/Sr/sub 4/Ca/sub 2/Cu/sub 4/O/sub y/ respectively have face-centered orthorhombic structure with a=0.540nm, b=0.545nm, c=3.669nm and a=0.540nm, b=0.546nm, c=3.077nm, respectively, and the former has the super-structure of 3.24nm, the latter has the super-structure of 2.7nm and is incommensurate in the b-direction. In addition, two kinds of minor phases with their compositions near (Sr/sub 0.6/Ca/sub 0.4/)Cu/sub 1.75/O/sub y/ and (Bi/sub 0.86/Pb/sub 0.14/)/sub 3/Sr/sub 1/Ca/sub 4/Cu/sub 1/O/sub y/ as well as CuO have also been observed.
