Blue tilapia, T. aurea, fed for a period of 10 week at 3% of body wt daily on a complete trout diet (control) or the trout diet supplemented at 10, 20, and 30% with dried poultry waste (DPW), demonstrated decreasing rates of growth as a function of increasing DPW levels although the differences were not significant (P > 0.10). Food conversions for fish fed the control and 10% DPW-supplemented diets were similar (1.02 and 1.06, respectively). In a 2nd, 8-wt experiment T. aurea fed trout feed supplemented with 20% DPW failed to grow when offered feed at 1% of body wt daily. Fish fed the 20% DPW supplemented diet at 5% daily grew at approx. the same rate as those fed 3% of that diet in the initial experiment.
