The influence of chemisorbed CO on the hydrogen spillover in Pt-containing pentasil of the type ZVM was investigated by heterophasic isotope exchange between D{sub 2} and the OH groups of the zeolite. It was found that to both the isotopic exchange and the hydrogen spillover are slowed down by CO chemisorption. Activated hydrogen inhibits a strong adsorption of CO. During thermal desorption of CO into the gas phase, CO{sub 2} was detected besides CO.
