Accelerator-based boron neutron capture therapy (ABNCT) is currently being studied as an alternative to reactor-based BNCT at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology`s (MIT`s) Laboratory for Accelerator Beam Applications (LABA). A tandem accelerator was recently constructed and installed at LABA. Previous work has indicated that the Be(d, n) reaction may be promising for use in ABNCT. Beam design is being performed to determine which energy deuterons produce the most useful therapy beam.
