School picks PTI, cites programming ease, backup

A Houston school district is installing Pacific Technology (PTI) Model 1664 energy management systems (EMS) in 25 school buildings along with stand-alone PTI Chillitron chiller controls. Programming ease, backup power capacity, the addition of the chiller controls, and a one-year maintenance contract helped PTI get the bid despite lower offers from others. The EMS and Chillitron units communicate with a central TRS 80 II processor and printer. Projected savings are between 10 and 15%, with a 24- to 30-month payback. (DCK)
