Statistical methods for environmental pollution monitoring

Book ·
OSTI ID:5522226
In this work the author explains statistical methods for designing environmental sampling and monitoring programs, and analyzing the results. The work discusses how to estimate average levels of pollutants, characterize the variability of pollution measurements collected in space and time, and detect localized areas (hot spots) of elevated concentration levels. Other topics of interest include computing confidence limits on means and medians, data transformations, handling concentrations near measurement detection limits, and more.
