As a result of higher ash of run-of-mine coal supplied to Ukrainian coking plant washeries, the yield and ash of the tailings have increased. A formula is given for calculating the change in yield of cleaned coal based on the new ash content of the tailings and of the cleaned coal and the similar values based or experience. The formula involves some assumptions, but the procedure may be useful as a simple method of predicting changes in concentrate yield resulting from changes in washery feed. (LTN)
