The stellar ({ital n},{gamma}) cross section of the comparably short-lived isotope {sup 155}Eu ({ital t}{sub 1/2}=4.96 yr) has been experimentally determined relative to that of gold by means of the activation method. A sample containing only 3.4{times}10{sup 14} {sup 155}Eu atoms was irradiated for 17 days in a quasistellar neutron spectrum corresponding to a thermal energy of {ital kT}=25 keV. The cross section obtained from the induced activity yields a value of {l_angle}{sigma}{times}{ital v}{r_angle}/{ital v}{sub {ital T}}=1320{plus_minus}80 mb at {ital kT}=30 keV. This result is of relevance for analyzing the abundance pattern in the {ital s}-process branchings at {ital A}=151, 152, and 154 with respect to the temperature during helium shell burning in low mass stars.
