This report presents a survey of published novel coal cutting (mining) concepts along with a brief discussion of each. A preliminary evaluation follows that identifies promising concepts, emphasizing reduced dust generation and economic production potentials. The promising concepts are then studied more deeply and evaluated in more detail with recommendations given for further development action.
