The VARSKIN and QUINCE computer programs for calculating absorbed dose from skin contamination both use a data file that is limited primarily to isotopes of concern in nuclear medicine and research applications. To overcome this limitation, a method has been developed for adding other radionuclides to the data file, based on correlations with the isotopes in the original file. This article covers the method in detail and describes how the QUINCE program and its expanded data file were validated against published data. Tables of essential parameters for 47 file, which contains 122 radionuclides.
