Physics of massive neutrinos

Book ·
OSTI ID:5511897
This book describes all aspects of neutrino physics, focusing on what is known and what we may hope to know about the mass of the neutrino and its particle-antiparticle symmetry, two of the most pressing questions in modern particle physics. The authors discuss neutrinos and their decisive role in both nuclear and elementary particle physics, as well as astrophysics and cosmology. They examine the fact that, because they interact so weakly with matter, many of the basic properties of neutrinos are unknown. Subjects considered include neutrino mixing, neutrino decay, neutrino oscillations, double beta decay, and related ideas. Physical concepts are stressed, and both theoretical methods and experimental techniques are presented.
