Limits on leptonic right-handed currents in E/sub 6/ theories

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. D; (United States)
With a view to obtaining limits on right-handed charged-current weak interactions produced by mixing between the usual leptons and the extra leptons that occur in the 27 representation of E/sub 6/, we reexamine various parameters which are sensitive to the admixture of right-handed currents (RHC's) in (a) muon decay, (b) nuclear ..beta.. decay, (c) inverse muon decay, and (d) leptonic decays of tau. The limits on the RHC's admixture parameter chemically bondsintheta/sub R//sup l/sinphi/sub R//sup l/chemically bond, where theta/sub R//sup l/ (phi/sub R//sup l/) are the mixing angles for right-handed charged (neutral) leptons, are obtained by making use of the presently available experimental data on the processes (a)--(d). For the e and ..mu.. families, the best limits (90% C.L.) are found to be chemically bondsintheta/sub R//sup e/sinphi/sub R//sup e/chemically bondless than or equal to0.047 and chemically bondsintheta/sub R//sup ..mu../sinphi/sub R//sup ..mu../chemically bondless than or equal to0.035, respectively. For the tau family, we obtain the limit (90% C.L.) chemically bondsintheta/sub R//sup tau/sinphi/sub R//sup tau/chemically bondless than or equal to0.38. AE
