Combined cycle cogeneration plant
The fundamental economic and technological change experienced by the energy industry over the past ten years is a trend that shows no indication of slowing or reversal. With the impetus of the Public Utilities Regulatory Policy Act (PURPA), cogeneration has re-emerged as an important aspect of the nation's energy picture. And new financial relationships continue to evolve between the producers of steam generators and the industries which utilize such equipment. The cogeneration plant now under construction at an oil refinery in Martinez, California is a prime example of how the energy industry has developed positive and innovative responses to such change. The design and economics of the plant are discussed.
