Mixed symmetry states in the vibrational limit of the IBA model

It is shown that the 2/sup +/ level at about 2 MeV in the N = 84 isotones /sup 140/Ba, /sup 142/Ce and /sup 144/Nd may be identified as the lowest state of mixed symmetry in the U(5) limit of the IBM-2.
