A many-electron, many-photon theory has been applied to the computation of static {alpha} and dynamic {alpha}({omega}) linear polarizability of the H{sup {minus}} 2{ital p}{sup 2} {sup 3}{ital P} state. The calculation involves the nonperturbative mixing of one bound (2{ital p}{sup 2} {sup 3}{ital P}), and one autoionizing (2{ital s}2{ital p} {sup 3}{ital P}{degree} ) state with 13 continua. State-specific, compact, and accurate square-integrable wave functions have been employed. The magnitude of the polarizability is huge: {alpha}=64 000 a.u.
