Effect of leaching on the reflection and luminescence spectra of Na/sub 2/O X 3SiO/sub 2/ glass in the fundamental-absorption region

This paper investigates the reflection and luminescence spectra of Na/sub 2/O X 3SiO/sub 2/ glass in the fundamental-absorption region using various methods to treat the surface; elucidate the effect of leaching on these phenomena; and to establish methods for treating the surface which would make it possible to eliminate the effect of leaching. The spectra of reflection, photoconductivity, and excitation of intrinsic luminescence of the glasses are illustrated.
