A new engineering elastomer for corrosive service, tetrafluoroethylenepropylene copolymer

Journal Article · · Am. Soc. Mech. Eng., (Pap.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5499324
A new elastomer, Tetrafluoroethylene-propylene copolymer, is described in this paper. It is mentioned that this new type of rubber has a unique chemical structure which provides it with the chemical and heat resistance and physical properties required for the demanding conditions now being encountered in the oil field. In many applications it has increased service life beyond that previously available. This new product provides design and operations engineers with a viable choice for service in corrosive and/or hot oil field environments such as sour gas and oil, corrosion inhibitors, drilling and completion fluids, steam/brine, acids, CO2, high temperature lubricants and more.
