Simulation of a major oilfield gas-gathering pipeline system

Conference · · Soc. Pet. Eng. AIME, Pap.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5498552
Diameters from 30 to 40 in. (76.2 to 101.6 cm) were evaluated for two pipelines planned for a gas gathering system in a major offshore oilfield in Saudi Arabia. The dew point gas from separators will undergo retrograde condensation in the pipelines with reduction of pressure and temperature. Calculations required for sizing the pipelines include phase behavior, pressure drop, temperature profiles, liquid volumes, flow pattern predictions, liquid flow rates and the minimum gas velocity required to continuously remove liquid from the risers.
