We have measured the superfluid density and the heat capacity of {sup 4}He confined in porous gold in order to study the effect of quenched disorder on the superfluid transition. The superfluid density exponent is found to be identical to that of bulk {sup 4}He within experimental resolution. The heat capacity shows a sharp peak at the transition temperature. The size of the peak appears to be larger than that predicted by critical phenomena theory. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}
