Title: N{sub 2}O emissions from fluid burning equipment

Nitrogen oxides, their emissions and impact on environment have been studied for a long time, but only NO and NO{sub 2} were taken into account. Common evaluation of nitrogen oxides as NO{sub x} mostly covers only higher nitrogen oxides. For a long time, N{sub 2}O has not been considered to be an important pollutant, because of its low reactivity. Recently, N{sub 2}O has become the subject of intense research and discussion because of its increasing concentration in the atmosphere (from estimated pre-industrial level 285 ppb to about 300 ppb). Although the concentration is more than 1,000 times inferior to the concentration of CO{sub 2}, the nitrous oxide may contribute significantly to the greenhouse effect, the relative strength of IR absorption being at least 200 times more than CO{sub 2} In addition, N{sub 2}O absorbs at around 7.8 {micro}m, which is one of the edge of a window of the earth`s emission spectrum. The following goals remain valid for the year 1996: working out removal methods and constructing removal tracks, practical verification determining N{sub 2}O in a gaseous medium, the comparison of marked out methods and the measured results attained from foreign workshops-TU Vienna-Institute Fuer Verfahrens, Brennstoff und Umwelttechnik, the measurement of N{sub 2}O emissions of typical burning equipment in the Czech Republic. The authors make a lot of measurements in the boilers and they present these data.
