In Korea, the Safety and Regulatory Requirements and Guidance - Development Program (SRRG-DP) for the Korean Next Generation Reactor (KNGR) has been carried out as a part of KNGR Project. The primary focus of the SRRG-DP is on the enhancement of the safety level of the SRRG which will be achieved through the SRRG-DP and applied to licensing review of the KNGR. This paper deals with major safety enhancement items that have been considered in the SRRG-DP such as PSA application, severe accident features, digital instrumentation and controls, reliability assurance, and so on. The basic approach to the development of the SRRG and its framework for systematic safety review of the KNGR are also explained. 16 refs., 1 fig., 2 tabs.
