Kinetics of gas synthesis using recycle systems

Book ·
OSTI ID:5490446

The results of studies of the hydrogenation of CO and CO/sub 2/ over Raney nickel catalyst and nitrided fused-iron catalyst using both single-pass and recycle system are reported. The activation energy over Raney nickel catalyst is 29 to 32 kcal/mole for the synthesis of either CO or CO/sub 2/. Gas conversion is dependent on the 0.3 power of the pressure for synthesis from CO and on the 0.5 power for synthesis from CO/sub 2/. Nitrided fused-iron catalysts were tested using high recycle rates and 3H/sub 2/ + 1CO, 2H/sub 2/ + 1CO, and 1H/sub 2/ + 1CO feed gas at 21.4 atm absolute pressure.
