The results of retrofitting 25 dwellings in Palm Beach County, Florida to achieve maximum cost effective electric energy savings are described. A total of $144,932 was spent on air conditioners, solar water heaters, heat recovery units, insulation, refrigerators, ceiling fans and other equipment and envelope upgrades. Only equipment readily available in the market place was used. Equipment was selected on the basis of the results of an energy audit showing a favorable internal rate of return on the investment. For the first six months of data collected, average weather corrected KWH savings have ranged between 24 and 33%.
