CPI gets seats on President`s eco-environment council
President Clinton`s new Council on Sustainable Development, charged with integrating economics and the environment and implementing commitments made at the Rio Earth Summit, includes a chemical industry CEO and is co-chaired by a Dow executive. The President, along with Vice President Al Gore, introduced the panel last week on the first anniversary of the Earth Summit. They asked the 24 members to develop specific policy recommendations for a sustainable national development strategy, and to sponsor what co-chairman David T. Buzzelli, Dow v.p. and corporate director/environmental health and safety and public affairs, calls {open_quotes}short-term, deliverable demonstration projects.{close_quotes}
