Field evaluation of gas reburning-sorbent injection technology. Topical report

This paper describes a field-evaluation project that will be funded cooperatively by GRI, the Department of Energy, and the State of Illinois Department of Energy and Natural Resources, to evaluate gas reburning-sorbent injection (GR-SI) on three coal-fired utility boilers located in Illinois. GR-SI will be applied to one each of wall-, corner-, and cyclone-fired boiler types with overall reduction targets of 60% in NOx and 50% in SO/sub 2/ emissions. This report presents an overview of the planned field-evaluation project, including design considerations and economic projections for GR-SI applications.
