Oil spill containment and clean-up procedures

Control of oil spills and clean up procedures are described. Some of the techniques available include use of booms and barriers to contain the oil. Removal methods include skimmers, separators, chemical dispersants, sorbents, sinking, burning, and biodegradations. Clean up procedures for beaches and shorelines include mechanical removal and the use of sorbents and dispersants. Treatment and disposal of recovered oil also are summarized
