NIOSH comments to DOL on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration proposed rule on occupational exposure to formaldehyde by R. A. Lemen, February 9, 1987

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5481956
The testimony contains the comments of NIOSH regarding the proposed rule on occupational exposure to formaldehyde (50000). The comments concern the results of epidemiologic and industrial hygiene studies of workers exposed to formaldehyde, along with risk estimates for cancer sites of the upper respiratory system associated with such exposures. NIOSH encourages further research to evaluate the cancer risk associated with the combined exposure to formaldehyde and particulates. NIOSH recommends that the occupational exposure to formaldehyde be controlled to the lowest feasible concentration.
