Study of actinide photonuclear reactions induced by gamma radiation from neutron capture

This paper reports on the photodisintegration of {sup 232}The, {sup 233}U, {sup 238}Np, and {sup 239}Pu which has been studied with monochromatic photons produced by neutron capture using the IEA-R1 reactor. The ratios {sigma}{sub {gamma}f}(X)/{sigma}{sub {gamma}f}({sup 238}U) (relative fissionability), {sigma}{sub {gamma}f}/{sigma}{sub a} (photofission branching ratio), and {Gamma}{sub n}/{Gamma}{sub f} (neutron emission and fission competition) are shown to be independent of excitation energy, within the experimental error, in the 6.73- to 9.72-MeV energy interval. some correlations of these ratios with Z{sup 2}/A and (E{prime}{sub f} - B{prime}{sub n}) are performed, and the results are in reasonable agreement with the theoretical model predictions.
