Government bidding processes for energy efficient products supplier perspectives

Conference ·
OSTI ID:54767

The Federal Government represents one of the largest markets for construction and energy conserving products. As an owner, the Federal Government occupies and controls millions of existing buildings representing billions of square feet. While the largest opportunity is in existing government buildings, new construction programs in most agencies remain strong and present significant opportunities for product sales. Government business is a different business environment that typical commercial business. A sales representative may only be exposed to government business on a limited basis throughout the selling year depending on the market and office location. Yet, participation in government bidding requires high standards of sales performance. This includes exact attention to technical details and strict conformance to ethical bidding and pricing standards established by the Federal Acquisition Regulation.
