Experiments are reported on a highly ionized argon plasma of a pulsed discharge with a specific power of 0.2--3 MW/liter which is rotating in a magnetic field of 10--20 kG. Spectral diagnostic methods were used to determine the values of the following properties and their time dependence: the density, n/sub e/ = (4--6)x10/sup 14/ cm/sup -3/; the temperatures, T/sub i/ = 15--20 eV and T/sub e/ = 2 eV; the ion velocity, up to 40 km/s; and diamagnetic weakening of the magnetic field, up to 40%. No large-scale instabilities were detected, despite the large values of the centrifugal acceleration, v/sup 2//r = 5 x10/sup 10/ m/s/sup 2/, and the value theta = 6.
