Title: Relativistic orbit rotation of the eclipsing binary EK Cephei

Journal Article · · Sov. Astron. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5470941

Multicolor WBVR photoelectric observations have been made for the binary star EK Cep, suggested by Koch as an additional test of the general theory of relativity. Its photometric elements, absolute dimensions, and rate omega-dot/sub obs/ of periastron motion are determined. The resulting value omega-dot/sub obs/ = 0/sup 0/.076 yr/sup -1/ agrees, to within the accuracy of measurement, with the relativistic effect predicted.
