Conversion of synthesis gas to liquid hydrocarbons
A process is described for converting synthesis gas to liquid hydrocarbon fuels, the process comprising the synthesis gas with a catalyst comprising an intimate mixture of a potassium promoted, precipitated, inorganic iron catalyst containing copper and a crystalline, zeolite selected from the group consisting of ZSM-5 type, ZSM-45 and Beta under a combination of conditions effective for converting the synthesis gas to at least 70 wt % of liquid products in the C/sub 5/ to C/sub 24/ boiling range with not more than 12 wt % of C/sub 1/ + C/sub 2//sup 0/ by-product, and recovering the liquid products; the improvements comprising the inorganic iron catalyst containing less than 200 ppm nitrogen and the contacting being conducted under a temperature of from about 430/sup 0/F to about 510/sup 0/F.
