Detections of TeV gamma-rays from the Crab Nebula by the Whipple group have shown the effectiveness of the {hacek C}erenko imaging technique in discriminating against the cosmic ray background. Stereoscopic' observations of atmospheric {hacek C}erenkov emission from air showers, using two telescopes separated by {similar to}100 m, are expected to increase the sensitivity of this technique. The CANGAROO project, a collaboration between the University of Adelaide and a number of Japanese institutions, will employ both of these techniques for observations from Woomera, Australia.
