The authors used electron spin resonance (ESR) to study the composition of radicals formed by the gamma-ray radiolysis of frozen aqueous NaH/sub 2/PO/sub 2/ solutions at 77 K. A scheme was proposed for the reactions occurring during electrolysis. An analytical expression relating the radiation yield of radicals to the NaH/sub 2/PO/sub 2/ electron fraction agree well with experimental values providing the polycrystalline samples of the frozen solutions which were assumed to consist of two structures that interact differently with radiation, i.e., crystalline ice and a glassy microregion with the composition NaH/sub 2/PO/sub 2/.9.5H/sub 2/O.
