HULL is a system of computer programs which solve the partial differential equations of continuum mechanics. It is used to solve problems in nuclear air blast and conventional weapon effects. The system is designed to tailor the program to be executed to fit the requirements of the problem and thus optimize the execution of the program. The three major functions performed by the system are the initialization of a problem (KEEL), calculating the time evolution of the problem (HULL), and plotting the results (PULL). The HULL system is currently operational on the CDC 6600 (Scope 3.4, NOS/BE), CDC Cyber 176 (NOS/BE, CDC 7600 (Scope 2.0), and IBM 370 (OS/VS2). (Author)
